Steps involved in IVF

Basically, there are five steps in the IVF:
Step I: Egg stimulating medications are prescribed as all the eggs will not develop or fertilize after retrieval.
Step II: Eggs are retrieved through a minor surgical procedure.
Step III: Sperms are collected from man.
Step IV: The sperm and egg together placed in the laboratory dish to encourage fertilization.  In this stage sometimes an intracytoplasmic sperm injection is necessary, through this a single sperm is injected directly into the egg.  Embryos are developed during this stage.
Step V: Embryos are transferred to the uterus of the woman.  A catheter or small tube is inserted into the uterus to transfer the embryos.
